design/build problem solving

Problem SIX
This couple had just had a new home built and needed certain issues addressed:
• Creating a play area for the children
• Keeping deer out of the back yard
• Creating some privacy from a very close neighbor
• Correcting some drainage problems
• Disguising the trash can area

Solution: Backyard
The back yard was graded into two levels, one with a large patio that was created of concrete and bordered with flagstone and adding flagstone steps to the upper play area and to the family room. The concrete continues as walkways down both sides of the house to complete the circulation pattern. The entire backyard was fenced. Solid wood was used between the neighbors, with wire across the back to keep deer out but allow borrowed views of the wooded area. A stucco wall was added in front adjacent to the garage that hid the utility area. Landscaping of this area to be done in the future.
